Sandy Spring Soccer Club set to launch in March 2022

The Sandy Spring Soccer Club (SSSC), based in Sandy Spring, MD is set to launch as a new soccer club in the Maryland area. The goal of the club will be to provide players between the ages of 5-17 years old the opportunity to develop and set themselves on a player path to play in college or professionally. 

SSSC will offer age specific training by dividing the club into age group modules. Each module will also have a name. The first level of the club is the 5-8 year old age group, known as the Junior Academy. The focus of this module is to develop players technically with focus on small-sided play. New types of dribble moves are taught in this age group to help players become more comfortable on the ball. 

The second level of the club is for the 9-12 year old age group known as the Academy. Emphasis at this level will be placed on teaching the players how to compete. Learning how to master 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3 v 3, and 4 v 4 will continue to be the focus in this age group, in addition to teaching players how to pass effectively, strike the ball, and defend.   

The third level of the club is the 13-15 year old age group known as the Competitive level. Here emphasis will be placed on the ability to win games. Teams in this age group will travel more frequently to various tournaments around the country. The focus of this group will be on tactical awareness and understanding of the game. We expect players to be on the path to mastering their game to become good enough to play in college or professionally. 

The final level to the club will be the 16-18 year old age group. At this point we want players to be able to master the game, strive to play collegiately, or if they haven’t left the club yet, pursue an opportunity professionally. Now, we know not all players will play in college or professionally, but we want to emphasize the importance of soccer being a tool to thrive in any facet of life that the player chooses. We want to be a part of the lifestyle of high character individuals who will go on and do great things in life.  

SSSC is set to launch in March 2022 with the Junior Academy program and plans to reach full occupancy by 2025 with all age groups.
